About Us

The Tejas Poco Ranch was established in 1989 by the Perdue Family.  As avid outdoor enthusiasts, the family wanted to preserve a little piece of Texas (hence the name) for generations to come.  In 1994, the goal of the ranch shifted from recreational use to that of wildlife management, with emphasis in quality deer management.  Supplemental feed programs were implemented with protein and food plots, water sheds and stock tanks were constructed along with a high fence in order to realize optimum management goals.  Selective harvest programs were also instigated to keep the population numbers at levels that the habitat could support.

The ranch works closely with Texas Parks and wildlife biologists and Macy Ledbetter of Spring Creek Outdoors to ensure proper management plans are put in place.  The health of the deer population and the conditions of the habitat are the basis for these strict plans.

The Tejas Poco Ranch, in cooperation with a local seed company, has conducted food plot tests over the past several years to obtain vital information on plant species that thrive in the North Texas Climate as well as which species are preferred by deer.  This information has been instrumental in developing new wildlife mixes for optimum growth and performance.

Aside from wildlife management, the Perdue family is heavily involved with promoting the outdoors to the next generation as well as helping the less fortunate.  Each year several deer are donated to the Hunters for the Hungry with the assistance of Rust Deer Plant in Cisco, Texas.
